Old Abdullah had a farm…

24 01 2009

… so maybe it wasn’t Abdullah’s farm, but we did visit one this week… Maymi, her friend’s Deej and Ace and us Mummies. Although the weather was cold, the sun was out, so the brightness gave us some degree of warmth alhamdulillah.

First stop, the geese…

Next, we met the donkeys… we named them Michael and Fred. Random names, but they just looked like a Michael and Fred!

Off to the goat, Bleaty (yes, we named her too!)

She charged towards us when she saw the bag of food!

The other farm animals were up next…

Pigs... they ate SO much of the food! Ugh.

Jumping Back On!

24 01 2009

Okay, you can stop staring at your computer screen like that! Yes, this is a blog post from me… I’m back from the wilderness of madness. Well, maybe I haven’t quite left there yet, but I’m please to say I’m jumping back on the home-education bandwagon.

I’m groping around trying to find my bearings again. After being out of action for so long it is quite blinding when you get out of the tunnel and ’see the light’!

Updates, updates…

– I’ve got two kiddies to home-educate inshaa`Allah:

Child One: Jund – 5 and 2 months

Child Two: Maymi – 2 and 7 months (of course, that’s not her real name, just one of the weird nicknames I call her… there are too many actually, but Maymi will stick for the purpose of the blog!)

– My children are SO different! Night and day, chalk and cheese, black and white… whatever you want to call it, they are different.

Jund is quiet, observant, forbearing and will smile at people he first meets and tell them his name if asked.

Maymi is loud, impatient, a leader and reserved when around people she first meets… and will not answer any questions.

– I’m in planning mode for the next weeks or so – regathering my thoughts, finding my footing and revisiting the goals I have for my children. It’s going to be one heck of a journey and I want to best prepare for it.
