Who’s the Teacher?

29 12 2006

When I teach Junayd the Qur`aan, I recite and then get him to repeat after me. Mashaa`Allaah, his recitation of soorah al-Faatiha is nearly ‘perfect’ (well according to my standards!). His articulation of the last two aayaat are still quite shaky, but he’s come a long way in the last 6 months, mashaa`Allaah.

Now, though, it seems that the tables have turned. When I tell Junayd to recite or try to ‘touch up’ his recitation, he shouts [and sometimes pokes me]

“You don’t say it, I say it!”

Well, what can I say? Nothing apparently. I’ve got an upcoming teacher, it seems. Alhamdulillaah ‘alaa kulli haal (All praise is due to Allaah for everything/ in all situations).

D’ya see it? Good. That’s our premature download section. It was born yesterday and inshaa`Allaah we shall try to spruce it up often. You can use, link and print the materials… you can even distribute them. But PLEASE keep ‘em intact. They didn’t happen overnight… took some time and effort – so please do not alter them.

Jazaakum Allaahu khairaa.

Bring me something that…

22 12 2006

… is the shape of a:

  1. Circle
  2. Triangle
  3. Rectangle
  4. Square

This was a game I played with Junayd on Monday. I drew various shapes on a piece of paper and asked him to bring objects which those shapes. Mashaa`Allaah I was estatic with the results.

I can still remember when I began trying to teach him shapes – it was so frustrating. But now, mashaa`Allaah, he knows them and even points out objects and tells me the shape. Yesterday evening when my husband was telling him a bedtime story he shouted:

“Abi, your face is a triangle!”

We both burst out laughing, but then I stopped to examine my husband’s face. The boy wasn’t very far off!

UPDATE: Harf – Alif

21 12 2006

Assalaamu ‘alaikum.

I’ve updated the Alif worksheets. If you downloaded the old one, please download this one instead. I think it’s much better – the other was very rushed.

Apologies.
